Former Swiss national team forward Duri Camichel passed away on Wednesday in a car accident during a trip in Costa Rica. He was 32 years old.

Also his travel partner Harry Andereggen, who worked as personal coach of current Swiss national team defenceman Mark Streit and other Swiss players, died.

Camichel played in the top Swiss league for EV Zug and the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers during 14 seasons before ending his career in 2014. He was also part of the national team and participated in the 2007 IIHF World Championship in Russia.

It was another sad stroke of fate for the Camichel family. His father, former Olympic winner in bobsleigh Werner Camichel, died of cancer nine years ago. His brother Corsin Camichel won the battle with cancer but had to end his career.
