Host nation Czech Republic gets help from Montreal Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec, who same as Russia’s Alexander Ovechkin was registered on Saturday.

The 32-year-old centre, who also played in the last two Olympic Winter Games, will participate in his eighth IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship on home ice in Prague.

The Kladno native finished his tenth full season with the Montreal Canadiens. He notched 60 points (26+35) in 82 regular-season games, his highest mark in five years.

In the line-up for the semi-final against Canada he will centre the first line with Jaromir Jagr and Roman Cervenka.
