The Preliminary Round is over and after a day off the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will continue on Thursday with exciting quarter-final match-ups.

Host Czech Republic will battle against Finland at O2 Arena in Prague at 20:15 in a rematch of last year’s semi-final won by the Finns, 3-0.

The other evening game between Sweden and Russia at CEZ Arena in Ostrava at 19:15 will be a semi-final rematch from last year. In Minsk 2014, Russia beat Tre Kronor 3-1 en route to gold.

The afternoon games will be battles between the two group winners from North America each facing an underdog.

At 15:15 in Ostrava, Team USA will battle it out against Switzerland. The Americans won the last encounter in last year’s preliminary round, 3-2, while Switzerland blanked the U.S. 3-0 in the semi-finals in 2013.

At 16:15 Canada, the only undefeated team, will enter the final-round with a quarter-finals game in Prague against Belarus. Team Canada has a 7-0 record against Belarus in World Championship play, but the underdogs will be eager to challenge the favourite.
