Martin Pluss is not among the players from SC Bern that were called to the Swiss national team today after two exhibition games against Finland.

He announced the end of his career with the national team two days before his 38th birthday.

Pluss represented Switzerland in 239 international games including 12 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships and four Olympic Winter Games. Only two players – Mathias Seger, who is still active, and Ivo Ruthemann – played more games for the Swiss national team and only one forward, Jorg Eberle, has been better in all-time point and goal scoring than Pluss with 134 points (56+78).

His most memorable event was his last World Championship participation when the Swiss won a historic silver medal in 2013 in Stockholm.
