The trophy for the winning team of the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is now on display in the foyer of Prague City Hall at Marianske namesti.

Prague Mayor Adriana Krnacova received the trophy from Hannes Ederer, the IIHF Deputy General Secretary, during a site visit.

"This is an exceptional sporting event and I would like to invite the public to come and see the trophy that will go to the winners of the tournament,” said Krnacova and added: “I sincerely hope that the team that receives this trophy is the one from the Czech Republic.”

There was no official ceremony when the trophy was brought to the Prague City Hall. According to tradition, the only time the trophy is officially presented is after the gold medal game of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship when IIHF President Rene Fasel will give the trophy to the captain of the winning team.

The 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship takes place from 1st to 17th May in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic.

The trophy will be displayed in Ostrava in March.
