After the end of the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship for his team, German captain Michael Wolf announced his retirement from international hockey.

The forward scored 53 goals in 152 international games for the German men’s national team.

“I made the decision already before the World Championship. It’s been a wonderful time with a lot of joy and emotions with the 2010 IIHF World Championship on home ice as the highlight,” the 34-year-old forward said in a statement.

He represented Germany in seven IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships and in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
